We employ the same learning strategy for our students that we use with our own children. While making sure they are interested and focused, we talk to them at a slightly higher level than they can understand already. This is called the optimal zone of learning; the student is challenged but not overwhelmed. Our job is to engage the student so that they are focused, find their level of competency in English, and challenge them sufficiently so that they naturally grow without even noticing! What we offer is an opportunity for the student to comfortably take risks and make mistakes in a stimulating environment, because that’s how kids learn!

Hello, I'm Teacher Laura from England. I live in Cambodia with my wonderful husband and fantastic 6 year old daughter. I love to play games with my students that encourage them to think and speak in English. While we have a lot of fun in our lessons I do like to follow a structure, too! Upon meeting your child I can assess what level of English they possess and tailor make lessons to address any gaps. That might mean focusing on building vocabulary or learning how to correctly form a sentence. I hold an A-Level in English Language, a Diploma in Biology & Psychology and a 120 hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate. I have years of experience teaching children online.

We always laugh in my classes as I believe if the student is having fun they are learning more, and will want to keep learning 🙂 I love to use topics in class like: most powerful wizard in Harry Potter, strongest Fire Type Pokémon or most dangerous Mobs in Minecraft. Whatever my student is passionate about, that's what we will focus on. I can work with kids of all ages and abilities, but I am best with kids at a medium and above level of English.
